The Diablo 4 release date is swiftly approaching, and we’ve got plenty of details on the five Diablo 4 classes we can expect to choose from when creating our character. It’s important to note that the numerical figures attached to each skill are a placeholder for comparison’s sake. Depending on other factors in Diablo 4’s development, many numbers will change, but these stats provide vital context regarding how powerful each skill may be. Here’s the full breakdown of the Diablo 4 Barbarian skills, which you can use to craft the best Diablo 4 Barbarian build.

When reading this breakdown of the Diablo 4 Barbarian skills and talents, it’s important to note that the numerical figures attached to each skill are a placeholder for comparison’s sake. Many of those numbers will change depending on other factors, but these stats provide vital context as to how powerful each skill may be.

Diablo 4 basic skills

Basic skills are going to be your left-click attack. They’ll generate fury for you to use on your Fury abilities (which we explore further down). It will be what you use most in combat, arguably the most important slot to think about. The numbers in these examples aren’t static – they’re just the ones seen in the demo from BlizzCon 2019 and are good for comparison’s sake.

Bash

Bash the enemy with your weapon, dealing 30% damage. After bashing enemies four times, your next Bash will Stun for 1.25 seconds, or two seconds if you’re using a two-handed weapon (Fury generated: 10).

Flay

Flay the enemy, dealing 5% damage and inflicting 36% bleeding damage over five seconds (Fury generated: 9).

Frenzy

Unleash a rapid flurry of blows dealing 20% damage with each pair of hits (Fury generated: 4).

Lunging Strike

Lunge forward and strike the enemy for 30% damage (Fury generated: 9).

Fury skills

A familiar face to previous Diablo players, this is the push and pull aspect of being a Barbarian. Surprisingly, it requires a lot of management of resources and thinking ahead to what ability is most useful in that situation. Fury is a resource you generate through your basic skills. Fury skills will spend the fury you generate, so paying attention to your and your party’s needs will be good.

Rend

Cleave enemies in front of the Barbarian, dealing 12% damage and inflicting 96% bleeding damage over five seconds (Fury cost: 35).

Hammer of the Ancients

Slam your hammer down with the fury of the Ancients, dealing 50% damage to a concentrated area (Fury cost: 35).

Double Swing

Sweep your weapons from opposite directions, dealing 36% damage with each weapon. Enemies caught in the center are hit by both blows (Fury Cost: 25).

Upheaval

Tear into the ground with your weapon and fling debris forward, dealing 70% damage (Fury cost: 40).

Whirlwind

Rapidly attack nearby enemies for 17.3% damage per tick (Fury cost: 25 per second).

Defensive skill

Defensive skills can also generate Fury, although the cooldown on these skills makes it more of a secondary source. These skills are good for buffing yourself and your team if you choose to have one and are generally pretty versatile.

Rallying Cry

Bellow a rallying cry, granting all allies Unstoppable, making them immune to crowd control. It also grants them a 30% increased movement speed boost and x40% resource generation for six seconds. Also affects nearby allies for three seconds (Cooldown: 25 seconds).

Ground Stomp

Smash the ground, stunning nearby enemies for three seconds (Cooldown: 16 seconds).

Iron Skin

Steel yourself and gain a barrier that absorbs 50% of missing life for five seconds (Cooldown: 14 seconds).

Challenging Shout

Taunt nearby enemies and gain 40% damage reduction for six seconds (Cooldown: 25 seconds).

Brawling skill

Barbarians love to get up close and personal with their enemies, and the Brawling skill is excellent at showing that off. All these skills are close combat specialties.

Kick

Throw a powerful kick that deals 18% damage and Knockback to enemies in front of you. Enemies knocked back into the terrain take an additional 54% damage and are Stunned for three seconds. Has two charges (Cooldown: 17 seconds per charge).

War Cry

Bellow a mighty war cry, increasing your damage dealt by x15% for six seconds and nearby allies for three seconds (Cooldown: 25 seconds).

Leap

Leap forward and slam down, dealing 32.5% damage and Knocking Back surrounding enemies on impact (Cooldown: 17 seconds).

This is a standard melee attack. Nothing especially exciting about the ability, but likely to be useful in getting rid of some bigger enemies you may encounter. Good for both engaging in combat and disengaging if you need to.

Charge

Become Unstoppable and rush forward, pushing enemies with you, then swinging through them for 25% damage and inflicting Knockback (Cooldown: 17 seconds).

Weapon Mastery

Considering that this is Weapon Mastery, and we don’t know much about the weapons in Diablo 4 yet, these skills are more of a mystery – we’re even missing one. Two-handed slashing weapons seem to be the Barbarian focus, so we’ll watch out for any of those on the horizon.

Rupture

Skewer enemies in a line, inflicting 13% bleeding over three seconds. The cooldown is reset if an enemy dies while bleeding (Cooldown: 10 seconds).

Death Blow

Attempt a killing strike, dealing 120% damage to enemies before you. The cooldown is reset if this kills an enemy (Cooldown: 15 seconds).

Steel Grasp

Throw out a trio of chains that deal 23% damage and Pull In enemies. Has two charges (Cooldown: 11 seconds per charge).

Ultimate

Ah, the ultimate. Frightening up close, but always with a hefty cooldown compared to the rest of your skills. Again, we’re missing one of the slots in the demo, so we’re curious about what’s being hidden from us.

Wrath of the Berserker

Causes your Barbarian to go into a rage. Knock back surrounding enemies and gain Berserking and Unstoppable for five seconds. For the next 10 seconds, dealing direct damage with basic skills grants Berserking for five seconds (Cooldown: 60 seconds).

Call of the Ancients

Call upon three ancients to aid you in the battle for six seconds. Korlic leaps at enemies, dealing 104% damage, and swings his weapons in a frenzy, dealing 39% damage with each hit. Talic spins a rapid whirlwind, attacking enemies for 65% damage. Madawc upheaves the ground to deal 195% damage (Cooldown: 50 seconds).

Iron Maelstrom

Activate three times to attach chains to each of your weapons and perform the following attack depending on your equipped weapon (Cooldown: 60 seconds):

  • Two-handed Bludgeoning – slams to the ground, dealing 60% damage, and stuns enemies for two seconds.
  • Two-handed Slashing – swipes in front of you, dealing 20% damage and inflicting 120% bleeding damage over five seconds.
  • Dual wielding – swings them around you, dealing 32.5% damage per hit.

And those are all the Diablo 4 Barbarian skills and talents.
