Payday 3 Telemetry – Should you Enable it?

In Payday 3, players are presented with the option to enable or disable a feature called Telemetry upon launching the co-op shooter. Telemetry’s primary purpose is to collect data on the heists players participate in, the objectives they find challenging or straightforward, the weapons they frequently use, and more. The developers of Payday 3 utilize this data to balance the game, adjusting less popular heists, modifying tools, and creating content that aligns with player preferences.

The pressing question for many is: should you enable Telemetry in Payday 3? Given the sensitive nature of data collection, this decision can be challenging.

Should you Opt into Telemetry in Payday 3?

The decision to Opt into Telemetry in Payday 3 is a personal one and depends on your perspective on privacy. If you’re comfortable sharing your gameplay data and want to contribute to the game’s development for many years to come, you might choose to turn it on. Opting in to Telemetry will show what heists players love, and then Starbreeze Studios can make more heists designed around what players love instead of gambling when it comes to creating new content.

On the other hand, there are valid concerns surrounding Telemetry, primarily data privacy. Some players believe that such data collection methods can infringe on personal privacy. Additionally, there’s always a potential risk of data breaches, leading to unauthorized access to this information.

Regardless of your choice, it’s essential to know that enabling or disabling Telemetry won’t affect your gaming experience. Payday 3 will remain just as enjoyable either way. Personally, I’ll be opting into Telemetry as if I can assist Starbreeze in fine-tuning Payday 3, which they aim to update for years to come. It’s a win-win scenario in my eyes.

While Telemetry offers valuable insights to the developers, it’s up to individual players to weigh the pros and cons. Whether you choose to enable it or not, the most important thing is to enjoy the game and have fun! Payday 3 doesn’t have an official Telemetry information page yet, but Payday 2 does; you can read it here: Payday 2 Gamesight & Telemetry Information.
