Minecraft cherry blossom tree – where to find and how to grow them

Where can you find Minecraft cherry blossom trees? If you’ve ever wanted to decorate your house in a gorgeous pink wood set, your wait is finally over. The Minecraft 1.20 update introduced cherry trees, and, of course, they’re beautiful.

These pink-petaled trees have long since been a fan favorite of Minecraft players, having appeared in many of the most popular Minecraft mods, so it’s no surprise that Mojang Studios has finally decided to add it to the vanilla game itself. It’s just one of the features of the Minecraft 1.20 update, including the Minecraft Live mob vote winner, the Sniffer, new bamboo building blocks, a Minecraft camel, armor trims, and the long-awaited Minecraft archeology system. But enough about those; here’s everything you need to know about Minecraft cherry blossom trees, the Cherry Grove biome, and everything else pink!

Minecraft Cherry Grove biome

The Cherry Grove biome is full of stunning cherry blossom trees, which feature dark wood and beautiful pink leaves. Moreover, these trees leave their petals lying on the ground, making the new addition to Minecraft biomes much more pretty. Break down or let one of these trees decompose, and you’ll be sure to collect some saplings, which you can plant anywhere to add a pop of color.

With a new biome and trees comes a new wood set, adding an exciting new expansion for the builders. There is no doubt this is one of the best yet. Not since the Nether update have we had such a colorful wood type, and these soft pink planks will completely overhaul the possibilities when considering spectacular Minecraft builds or even just your simple Minecraft house ideas. As usual, the new set comes with all the usual pieces, including fence posts, a trapdoor, stairs, and the new 1.20 hanging sign.

Just ‘bee’ very careful when approaching a cherry tree, as you may find a hive hanging from it. Given how delicate they are, handling them with the utmost care is usually best, and we have a Minecraft bees guide on how to do just that.

Find cherry blossom trees in Minecraft

If you’re struggling to find cherry blossom trees in Minecraft, it might simply because they spawn in a rare biome. There’s no real trick to finding cherry groves easier and it will mostly come down to luck, but you can increase your chances by looking near mountains, as Cherry Groves usually spawn in the lower layer of a mountainous landscape. As such, mining under a cherry grove biome may also reward you with emerald ore.

How to grow cherry blossom trees

As we’ve briefly mentioned above, cherry blossom trees can be grown in the same way as other Minecraft trees. Break the leaves (with anything but shears) or destroy the whole trunk and wait for the leaves to naturally decompose, and – with luck – you should be able to gather a few cherry blossom saplings. Plant these anywhere you like, and they’ll grow into glorious cherry blossom trees.

How to get pink petals and cherry leaves

So we mentioned that these new cherry blossom trees leave Sakura petals lying on the ground. Well, this is actually an item itself! Minecraft pink petals are a new natural item that can be placed on grass blocks to make your garden, path, or other green areas look even more beautiful! To get them, you just need to harvest them with sheers. To produce more – in any biome – use bone meal on the placed pink petals as they work the same way as two-high flowers. As such, you can even create a simple pink petal farm.

Just like with the existing Minecraft trees, you can also harvest the leaf blocks straight from the tree with shears too, and these can also add to your pink paradise by placing them around the outside of your base in a natural scattered fashion, or place them in rows or columns to make bushes!

Cherry Grove mobs

While the Sniffer is coming to Minecraft in the new update, there are technically no new Minecraft mobs to call the Cherry Grove home. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be in the future, and that doesn’t also mean there aren’t cute creatures roaming among the pink trees from day one.  Here are all the confirmed mobs that hang around Cherry Grove biomes:

  • Bees
  • Pig
  • Chicken
  • Rabbit
  • Sheep
  • Cow
  • Glow Squid
  • Creeper
  • Slime
  • Spider
  • Skeleton
  • Zombie
  • Enderman
  • Witch
  • Zombie Villager

That’s everything you need to know about the Minecraft cherry blossoms biome. We think this is one of the most beautiful yet, so just imagine it with Minecraft shaders on. Of course, Minecraft is one of the best PC games ever, but if you don’t want to touch the new biome, items, and features before their full release, try one of the other sandbox games on our list instead.
